Baby French (Charentais) canteloupes that are finally ripening in my garden! I got a late start with the seeds I bought from Seeds of Change this spring so wasn't hopeful that I'd see any fruit. And this may be all I get since we had frost last night. They're the size of a baseball but look just like their larger cousins inside.
And they're really fragrant and sweet.
I'll definitely try these again next year, but I'm starting them much earlier!

Do you start your seeds indoors, or did you put them straight into the ground? there are MANY seeds that do much better by planting them indoors first. (a cardboard egg carton with peet, seeds, moistened and in a ziplock baggy on top of the fridge will work beautifully!)
I did start them inside in a sunny window but not quite early enough. We have a pretty short growing season here so I should know better :)

janet...I remember the short season from when I grew up in NE Ohio... my mom gets jealous when I am working in my flower beds in February in SC!
Our season here in SC is funky...it gets so hot that the plants burn up before the harvest is ripe, even with watering.
Oh to be in the tropics where things grow fast and furious!

Hey, I just wanted to mention that we just moved and I finally have the right spot I had been wanting for the pillow and sachet I purchased from you and they look so great! Love them! When the rest of my family room is presentable I will take a picture of them for my blog. I make pillows out of vintage textiles myself but I'm always wanting the ones you make instead! Well, I'll be back again for more in the future for sure. :) Cece
We grew some of those in the polytunnel last year. How wonderful to have the weather to just be able to grow them in the garden though !
